Threads of Hope Launch of Tailoring Classes at Shubadha

A vibrant and inspiring day unfolded at the Shubadha Society, Suralpady on September 03, 2025 under the theme Threads of Empowerment, Woven with Every Stitch. The programme brought together members of the local community with a shared purpose of empowering rural women through vocational skills.

The event commenced at 11.30 am in a prayerful atmosphere with the lighting of the lamp by the Guest of Honour. The occasion was graced by the presence of Sr. Flavia Wilma, Secretary of the Shubadha Society; Sr Juliana Monis, Animator of St Joseph Convent, Suralpady, Mrs Sunitha, tailoring class teacher, Sr Dencilla and Sr Neeta, members of St Joseph’s Convent, Suralpady, and Mrs Yoshitha, student representative.

In her address Sr Flavia Wilma delivered an inspiring speech highlighting the importance of skill development for rural women. She emphasized that tailoring is not merely stitching clothes but stitching together confidence, independence, and dignity. She encouraged the participants to make the best use of the opportunity provided, reminding them that empowerment begins with small steps of learning and dedication. She also motivated the women to use their talents not only for personal growth but also for the upliftment of their families and communities. Her words filled the gathering with hope and determination.

As a symbolic gesture to inaugurate the tailoring classes, Mrs Sunitha, the teacher, stitched the first piece of cloth at the close of the programme, beautifully signifying the dawn of a new journey of learning and empowerment. The celebration concluded with a group photograph capturing the joy of the occasion, followed by the distribution of sweets, which added sweetness and warmth to the day’s memories.
