Renewing of consecrated vows

Sr Amitha Dsouza BS and Sr Selita Dsouza BS

Pope Francis says “Totally consecrated to God, they are totally given over to their brethren, to carry the light of Christ, there where the darkness is thickest and to spread his hope to hearts who are discouraged” with this zeal and enthusiasm we the 6 Junior sisters of Mangalore and Guwahati Province began our Recollection for three days at Bethany Provincialate, Vamanjoor.  Each day began with the moment prayer setting a reflective tone for the sessions that followed.

On the first day Sr Dona the resource person helped us to reflect on the theme ‘Consecrated Chastity and Evangelical Poverty’; It helped us to have deep union and intimacy with Jesus, to love Him alone with an undivided heart. We were convinced to find our security in Jesus alone especially at the moment of uncertainties and inconveniences. The theme of the second day was centred on the ‘Holy Eucharist and Word of God’ expounded by Sr Sonia Dias; it deepened our love for the Word of God and helped us to be active in the Eucharistic celebration. On third day Sr Anita Stephen dwelt on the theme ‘seeking the will of God in our life and joyful living in the community’; It helped us to grow in inner peace and freedom, to have trust in God, to do His will by accepting all the situations. It challenged us to build bridges through our presence and to bring peace and joy in the community.

All these three days were a time for deep introspection that led us into profound inner journey reflecting on our life and rekindling our commitment to God. The evening Adoration conducted by Sr Shalet Dsouza, was a powerful time to be with the Lord, to be soaked and energized by His love. It confronted us to love Jesus more and to follow him radically like St.  Peter, the Apostle.

On April 16th 2025 during Eucharistic celebration we joyfully renewed our vows, expressing our love for Christ. Sr Lilly Pereira the Provincial Superior of Mangalore Province received our vows, Fr Prakash DSouza – the Director of SJEC offered prayers along with the Community Sisters. We were felicitated by the Provincial Superior Sr Lilly Pereira, along with her councillors and community sisters. Indeed, it was a memorable day!
