Madeleine PU holds Community Awareness Programme

Madeleine PU College, Kilpady, Mulki, in its constant stride towards holistic education, organized a Community Awareness Programme on 1st August 2025 in the college auditorium. The programme aimed to enlighten young minds on the importance of mental well-being, emotional resilience, and the role of community outreach in today’s rapidly changing world.

The event was graced by the presence of the college Principal, Sr. Lydia Shanthi, who served as the President of the programme. In her address, she emphasized the role of education not only in shaping intellectual ability but also in nurturing mental and emotional strength among youth.

The college had the honour of hosting three distinguished resource persons from Dr Thunga’s Manaswini Hospital, Mangalore: Mrs Shashikala B,  Senior Counselor and Co-ordinator of Community Services and Academic Programmes, Mr Ashwith,  Virtual Therapist & Marketing Manager, Mr Nandakishore Shetty, Public Relations Officer.

Each of the speakers engaged the students with their insights into mental health, virtual therapy, and public wellness. Mrs Shashikala B spoke passionately about the increasing need for youth to prioritize emotional health and community connection. Mr Ashwith discussed the growing influence of digital platforms in mental health services, while Mr Nandakishore Shetty shed light on how media and outreach can bring about awareness and remove stigma around seeking help.

The programme commenced with a solemn prayer, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, symbolizing the dispelling of darkness and the welcoming of knowledge. The welcome address extended warm regards to the esteemed guests and attendees. The dignitaries’ presence truly elevated the spirit of the gathering.

The event concluded with a gracious vote of thanks, acknowledging the efforts of all contributors, from speakers to organizers to the enthusiastic student audiences.

Such meaningful programmes reflect the college’s unwavering commitment to building not just educated minds, but compassionate, and socially responsible individuals.
