History

Bajpe is an old residential locality in the north-east of Mangalore City with all modern infrastructures. It is nestled in the heart of Mangalore Taluk, stands as a testament to the power of education and perseverance. The village, which was once untouched by civilization, has evolved into a vibrant center of learning and accomplishment over the past nine decades. At its core lies the Little Flower Higher Primary School, an embodiment of Rev Fr Leo Saldanha's unwavering commitment to nurturing bright minds through quality education for girls. What began in 1926 as the Little Flower Hr Pry School soon blossomed into an institution of paramount significance, marked by a series of noteworthy milestones that have left an indelible mark on its history.

In its formative years, the school's growth was guided by the dedication of local diocesan priests. However, recognizing the immense potential of this institution, the torch of responsibility was passed to the Sisters of Bethany Educational Society in 1930. The appointment of Sr Josphine as the first Headmistress paved the way for a period of remarkable development. With each passing year, the school advanced in both academic and holistic pursuits, thanks to the collective efforts of individuals like Sr Francis, Sr Letitia, Sr Bernard, Sr Clemens, Sr Albert, and SrModesta, who assumed leadership roles and propelled the institution forward.

The school's expansion mirrored its growth in stature. Overcoming space constraints, SrModesta spearheaded the construction of a new building, reflecting the institution's commitment to providing a conducive environment for learning. Subsequent leaders such as Sr Grace, Sr Leoba, Sr Jonina, Sr Regis, Sr Patsy, Sr Sybil, Sr Suma, Sr Veena and Sr Venisha continued to nurture the school's spirit, fostering a blend of godliness, discipline and academic excellence. Under Sr Agnetta's leadership, the school flourished further, gaining recognition not only for its curricular achievements but also for its remarkable performances in co-curricular activities.

At Present Sr Jacintha Prefilda Dsa leads the school as Headmistress, the legacy of Little Flower Higher Primary School shines ever brighter. The institution's journey has been one of resilience, with the teaching staff and correspondents playing an central role in shaping its path. Despite the surge in popularity of English medium schools, Little Flower stands strong, educating 224 girls under the guidance of able Staff.

The school's laurels extend beyond the classroom, as its students have consistently triumphed in various inter-school competitions at Taluk, District, and even State levels. Notable achievements include relay team victories at State-level games, numerous accolades at Mangalore taluk level, and impressive performances in Kho kho and volleyball competitions. Guided by dedicated leaders and fueled by unwavering commitment, the school's Bull Bull Group and Guides troupe continue to thrive, reinforcing the institution’s all rounded excellence.

Little Flower Higher Primary School has etched a remarkable journey, transcending time and challenges to emerge as a beacon of knowledge, discipline and achievement. Its story, intertwined with Bajpe's vibrant history, serves as a testament to the power of education to transform communities and lives. As the institution enters its tenth decade, the future glimmers with the promise of continued growth, progress, and a legacy that will stand the test of time.
