Jyothi PU College, Ajekar

Jyothi PU College Ajekar, is compared to the Bosom of a mother, where the budding blooming Youth find, warmth, inspiration and acquire value based education.

The Bethany Flame which was lit in the year 1964, took its name as Jyothi High school, is upgraded to Jyothi PU College on 7th June 2010. Bethany Educational Society, Mangalore, opened its arms towards green belt of Karnataka known as Malnad, to provide education to the remote village in Udupi District.

Sr Sadhana BS was the first Principal of PU College, she wholeheartedly served and brought significant growth in its initial stage, in the year 2015 it is taken up by her successor Sr  Anita Lydia BS. The Principal and staff instilled in the student’s moral values both by example and by precept. From 2018 onwards, the  in- charge Principals,  Sr Patricia, Mr Sundar Poojary and Sr Paulette BS rendered their valuable service to uplift the students, to the best of their ability.

Due to the emerging new PU Colleges both Government- aided and Private PU College made its way to draw the students strength and adding to it, the Covid-pandemic was a great blow to bring down the strength of the students.

In the year 2022-23, the Sr Sagaya Selvi BS was appointed as the Principal. Under the guidance of management, Correspondent, the Principal and Staff preserved to keep Bethany flame burning and now its again picking up its strength, now it is progressing both in academic excellence and has honed the creative energy of students to expose their innate talents, capacities and innovations in various forms. Sr Sagaya Selvi BS and staff permeate the institution with the Bethany spirit and encourage the total development of every individual in all its richness. Under the guidance of BES management, Correspondents and Principals, the College has grown in maturity and merit.

The bond of care and gratitude, which is woven with the threads of love and warmth irrespective of caste, creed, colour and religion. It is this bond of love that I get to hear, from the people of Ajekar the magnificent reminiscences of their academic period and the good values that has shaped their lives.

On 13 July 2023, was special day for Jyothi Institutions, as we celebrated BES Platinum Jubilee in a very significant way.

Sr Roshel BS , the Assistant Provincial Superior & Correspondent of Jyothi Institutions was the President to witness colorful celebration of Platinum Jubilee.

The College students enacted western style dance drama, on the Topic “Contribution of Mgr RFC Mascarenhas towards Woman Education in 1940s.As the part of Platinum Jubilee , the college prepared ‘Wall Calender’ of academic year 2023-24. And was released and distributed to guest and every student of the College. 

Jyothi Institutions, lightened to enlighten. The light that our Founder, Servant of God, RFC Mascarenhas lit, will spread the rays of hope , wisdom and inspire many young youth in the years to come.
