Jyothi High School, Ajekar

Jyothi high school Ajekar was started on 22-06- 1964 by the then Parish Priest Ligory DSouza. There were only two primary school very far from the parish church and most of the students discontinued their education after the primary education or they had to go to Karkal for high school education.  Fr Igory sensed the great need of High school in Ajekar . He then approached Mother Macrina, the then Superior General of Bethany Congregation  and requested the Bethany sisters to come and open the high school. Mother Macrina accepted the invitation  and the parish priest donated the land where  the  High school and convent is existing now. Then permission was sought from the then Bishop of Mangalore Rt. Rev. Raymond DMello. Thus the school building and convent was started in 1964.

The school has completed 60 years in 2024 and a grand diamond jubilee was celebrated with the help and support of the large Alumni of the school. PTA and Alumni is the backbone for the school development even now.

At present the  student  strength is 120 with three classes of the High school.
