Holy Family High School, Bajpe

Holy Family High School, Bajpe managed by the Bethany Educational Society was established in the year 1964. Mgr RFC Mascarenhas, the Founder of Bethany Congregation who saw the educational needs of the Bajpe vicinity established the fourth branch house of the congregation in 1930 on September 29th with the main objective of educating the girls. Fr Leo Carvallo, the parish priest expressed the need for a High School for girls. Thus the High School gradually and steadily developed and increased in number. The school is recognized in Mangalore and Dakshina Kannada for its meritorious, scholastic achievements.

The school which initially had 31 students had Sr Valeria as the first Headmistress who left no stone unturned to impart all-round education to the girls and prepare them for a responsible life in the society. After her the baton of the institution was passed on to the able dedicated hands of Rose, Sr Emil, Sr Georgina, Sr Gladys,  Sr Joyce, Sr Mediatrice,  Sr Marielyta, Sr Leonita, Sr Christella, Sr Neeta, Sr  Paulette, Sr Joyceline, Sr Felcine, Sr Lolita, Sr Cynthia. The School has been progressing under the dynamic leadership of Sr Jessy Preema the Headmistress.

Students who pass through the portals of this institution are offered facilities to unfold their potentialities and to prepare themselves to meet the challenges of life. The school has a very active co-operative Parent- Teacher association which collaborates with the management. The school has well equipped laboratory with various club activities such as art and craft, literature, Eco- club, Sports club, YSM, Science club, Maths club etc The club activities and competitions help our students to develop their talents, self confidence and leadership skills. Students excel both in curricular and co-curricular activities and have brought laurels to the institutions. Keeping in mind the Charism of the founder of reaching out to the poor and marginalized, the children who are economically poor are helped out with various scholarships and slow learners are helped through regular coaching classes.

During their tenure the institution began to grow from its infancy to adulthood. From 1994 onwards as the institution began to grow in number of students the building was extended with additional classrooms, play ground, toilets, library and laboratory. The needs of modern education was realized and in 2001 computer education is provided to the students. 2018 Atal Tinckering Lab was installed in our school. It enabled the students to excel in  Science. The school gives due important to value education, moral science and catechism. Though most of the students of Holy Family hail from the economically backward families with lack of facilities for learning at home, the unflinching dedication of the staff has transformed them dramatically both academically and socially with the blessings of the Holy Family.

Holy Family has truly proved to be a lighthouse for the poor children of their locality and has empowered them to take their rightful place in society. The school enjoys an atmosphere of peace and serenity in spite of its nearness to the main road. Holy Family under the Bethany Educational Society has carried light and happiness to many.  May the Holy Family lead us all on to keep alive the goal of Bethany Educational Society for the fullness of life for all.
