The spirit of environmental consciousness was brought alive at Madeleine PU College, Mulki as the institution celebrated Environmental Day with a vibrant and meaningful program that combined tradition, awareness, and culture. The event was held in the college auditorium, beginning with an assembly led by enthusiastic students.
The program commenced with a soulful prayer, setting a calm and reflective tone for the day’s proceedings. The atmosphere was further enriched with a warm welcome extended to the esteemed guest, Mrs Rajeshwari Karkera, and the respected Principal, Sr Lydia Shanthi Mendonca, by Mohammad Kais. His words of hospitality and appreciation set the stage for a memorable event.
To mark the significance of Environmental Day, the inauguration was carried out by watering a plant, symbolizing care and responsibility towards nature—a simple yet powerful gesture echoing the day’s purpose.
This was followed by an inspiring speech by Mrs Rajeshwari Karkera, who emphasized the importance of sustainability, collective responsibility, and the role of youth in protecting the environment. Her words left a lasting impression on the audience, urging everyone to make small but consistent efforts towards a greener planet.
Adding vibrancy to the event, a cultural program was held, featuring a theme-based song, a thought-provoking skit, and a Bollywood dance performance that beautifully tied entertainment with environmental messages. The creativity and enthusiasm of the students were evident and appreciated by all present.
The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Mohammad Razeen, who acknowledged the efforts of all participants, organizers, and attendees. Principal Lydia Shanthi Mendonca then addressed the gathering, applauding the students for their commitment and reminding everyone of their duties as responsible citizens of the earth.
The entire program was anchored gracefully by Miss Reema, whose confident and engaging presence kept the event flowing smoothly.
