Bethany Seva Ashram Jalasangi

Jalasangi, a mission center of Bidar, became a beacon of Jesus’ love under the Bidar Mission. In 1983, Bishop Basil S DSouza of Mangalore Diocese invited the Bethany Sisters to support missionary activities in Jalasangi, Humnabad Taluka, Karnataka. Initially, Sr Evangelista and Sr Anette joined a diocesan team with sisters from other congregations. On 12th June 1990, Sr Loyoline, Sr Fidelis, and Sr Meena formally began their mission, focusing on pastoral care and evangelization. Our convent Situated on about four acres of land, the campus features a beautiful building surrounded by mango and other fruit trees. Daily, community members visit eight villages to teach catechism, conduct meetings for children and women, and provide support to parish hostels. The community also cultivates green gram and vegetables, contributing to their self-sufficiency. They offer medicine for skin itching, drawing many people who experience healing. This vibrant mission continues to serve both spiritual and physical needs in the area.

Key Milestones:

1994: The new convent building, named Sevashram, was blessed by Bishop Basil S.D. Souza on 1st November.

The sisters initiated literacy programs and founded Daya Kiran, a rehabilitation center for neglected leprosy patients.

They established Maria Seva Clinic, providing healthcare to all.

Their services extended to Balasadana, a boarding house for children, and women empowerment programs in nearby villages.

Despite challenges such as road accidents and a transformer fire on 5th August 2006, God’s grace protected them. The sisters continue their mission in the Gulbarga Diocese with dedication.
