Raymond Francis Camilus Mascarenhas, a beacon of light

Born to Lazarus and Joanna, a pure delight

150 years of his birth, 125 years of priestly ordination

This Twin Jubilee year, we celebrate his life with admiration

He strengthened the faith of his flock zealously

He became the hope of the hopeless tirelessly

Women’s empowerment his motto, he pursued

Through education and self-employment, a great deed

A visionary, founded Bethany, the Women’s Religious Congregation 

A beacon of love, prayer and service to all generation

He served not only God but also humanity

He kept his flock always in unity

He built schools in remote lands

Education to girls, certainly now expands

He filled the hearts that once were hollow

With faith and hope, only Christ to follow

He translated the four Gospels into Konkani

‘Apostle of Print Media’ he was called by many

Domestic Prelate the honour by Pope Pius XII  

Servant of the Most High, a true example of faith

His heart with compassion would always boil

The Servant of God, A saint to be of Mangalore’s soil
