Madeleine Convent, Mulki

Madeleine Convent Mulki  is the fruit of the far sighted vision of the servant of God. Mgr RFC Mascarenhas the founder of Bethany. Madeleine school was started  in the year 1946. To get the permission to erect a convent,  our revered Founder had to wait for 12 long years. After  the  constant requests of RFC Mascarenhas the Founder and Mother Precilla the then Superior General,  Madeleine Convent  was established on May  26 1958.  It  started with five sisters and late Sr Agnella was the first Superior.

Since  the beginning sisters are  engaged in Educational, Pastoral and Social Apostolate. In the year 2006 the Congregation of the Sisters of the Little Flower of Bethany purchased about 15 acres of land at Kilpady  and put up  Bethany Eng Hr Pry school, High School and Madeleine PU College are  to provide quality education to the students.    

Madeleine  Convent  Mulki is  indeed a place of nature’s  bounty.  Currently, there are 370 students at Madeleine   Higher  Primary  and High School seeking  knowledge.  On the other hand there are 850 students  at Kilpady campus   inclusive of Bethany English Medium Primary, High School and Madeleine PU College.  Apart  from the educational  apostolate, sisters take active part in various church activities such as teaching catechism, attending SCC meetings, involving  themselves in SVP,  YCS,  etc.  People are appreciative of the hard labour of sisters.   Madeleine campus is blessed  with  variety of  fruit  trees,  cultivation of  paddy,  coconut trees   and  milk.  We have a dynamic and enthusiastic BLA  unit.  It’s members support  the sisters n in their  mission .    During the  current  year  two sisters are involved in migrant ministry and  visit Katipalla  Church  in  collaboration with the SVD  Priests.    People  of this  locality are cordial,  loving,  helpful  and try to maintain good   rapport  with the  sisters.  Sisters are active, dynamic and enthusiastic to  render service in Schools, in the church, society thus to continue the mission  of Christ.
