The communities of Mangalore Province came to together to celebrate the Province day on 7th December 2025, at the Bethany Provincialate, Vamanjoor. It was a beautiful Sangam of the 34 communities of the province, a day of meeting one another, to share, exchange and raise our grateful hearts to God for His marvellous blessings on the province. The day was set with the Solemn Eucharistic celebration officiated by Fr Prakash Wilfred D Souza, the director of St Joseph’s Engineering College Vamanjoor. In his homily he emphasized on advent challenges of building bridges of peace, harmony, bearing fruits of repentance and to walk the advent path of hope harmony and holiness.
Thereafter we had a colourful cultural programme by the sisters of various communities along with the formees. It was a blend of music, dance, prayer by the active participation of young as well as senior sisters irrespective of their age and breaking all barriers.
Sr Shubha the Superior of Bethany mother house was the chief guest of the day. Melodious opening chorus, prayer dance, traditional welcome dance with blend of various cultures, folk dance, kavali with the theme of change of culture in the modern age and dramatic presentation of drama gave the glimpses of the eroding values and our responsibility to carry the light of the gospel.
Sr Lilly the Provincial Superior in her opening address thanked each and every member of the province for their dedicated service, fidelity and patient endurance in fulfilling the apostolic duties with the zeal and carry forward the spirit and charism of the Congregation. She thanked God for the 39 years of peace and challenges that has kept the province moving amidst all odds of life. She offered every member to the maternal care of Mary of Immaculate conception, the patroness of the province, the star of the sea who accompanies us in moments of uncertainties. She invited each one to rekindle the first love and to remain close to the poor in all our apostolic endeavours.
Sr Shubha the chief guest of the day thanked for the opportunity given to her to be present for this day and her positive experience of home coming. She appreciated the beautiful program that was put up on the occasion of the province day.
Sr Shalet D Souza, the provincial councillor conducted a general quiz based on the various aspects of the province. Four groups emerged as the representatives of the entire audience. The first group bagged the first prize and all the groups were honoured with prizes. The day came to an end agape meal.
