“A week of camp life is worth six months of theoretical teaching in the meeting room,” said Robert Baden-Powell. True to this saying, a two-days residential camp for Scouts, Guides, Cubs, and Bulbuls was organized by St Raymond Eng Med Higher Primary School, Vamanjoor on March 6th and 7th 2025.
The camp was inaugurated by Sr Mariola, the Educational Coordinator and Correspondent, Sr Vithalis, the Heads of St Raymond’s Campus – Sr Anita Lydia and Sr Shanthi Flavia- and PTA Vice President Mr Ikbal Hassan. Their presence added grace to the occasion, and their words of encouragement inspired the young participants.
In her presidential address, Sr Mariola urged students to develop a spirit of love and service for the nation. She emphasized the importance of teamwork, self-confidence, and self-reliance in shaping a responsible citizen.

The camp engaged students in a variety of interactive and skill-building activities. Mr Francis Maxim Moras, the resource person, delivered an insightful session on “Road Safety”. Students also participated in Rangoli-making, by using dry waste, showcasing creativity and environmental awareness. Cooking without fire and Kim’s games was energized for students, while learning woodcraft signs and undertaking an adventurous trekking, instilled resilience and survival skills.
A visit to a ‘poultry farm’ and Holige preparation house, provided students with a new perspective on self-employment and traditional occupations. The highlight of the camp was the campfire and cultural evening, a vibrant and heartwarming event, witnessed by parents and the sisters of St Raymond’s Convent.
The camp was meticulously planned and executed with the dedicated involvement of the entire staff. Sr Lavita, the Headmistress, thoughtfully designed the two-day program, ensuring a memorable and enriching experience for all participants.
The Scouts and Guides Utsav successfully reinforced the spirit of adventure, teamwork, and learning, leaving students with valuable lessons and cherished memories.
